You don’t have to give up on your favourite food when trying to lose weight. Small amounts of your favourite can be part of your weight loss diet. Remember it is all about balance. This is a life long journey so you must include your favourite food. It’s all about portion control. You just have to learn how to do it.

Grain products such as bread, pasta and rice are not necessarily fattening. It depends on the amount consumed. In fact it is recommended that one consumes grains as part of a healthy diet plan.
Opting for whole grain products is healthier and will help you feel fuller. Examples of wholegrain products include brown rice, brown pasta, high fibre cereals and whole-wheat bread.

You need to eliminate all fats to lose weight

You do not need to eliminate all fats to lose weight. Fats provide essential nutrients and should form part of a healthy diet even when losing weight. Fat intake should be limited but not eliminated.
Always choose the heathy fats such as olive oil, nuts, seeds and avocado and avoid saturated fats.

Dairy products are unhealthy and fattening

As with all other food consumed, the dairt products that you include daily should form part of your eating plan to lose weight.

Dairy products are an important food group and should only be eliminated from your daily diet under the supervision of a healthcare professional.

Dairy products have protein that will help with the growth and repair of our muscles, bones, skin and other tissues. They also contain calcium which is essential foe our bones.
Many dairy products are also fortified with vitamin D.
If you are on a weight loss diet or have high cholesterol levels then you can opt for fat free or low fat products.

Very important to remember that adults should consume three servings of milk and other milk products such as cheese and yoghurts.

Consuming gluten is fattening. Switching to gluten free products will help you lose weight.

Fact

Gluten free products will not make you lose weight and are necessarily healthier if you are not coeliac or sensitive to gluten.
A gluten free diet is not a weight loss diet and will mot help you lose weight
